FLUIMUCIL HISTORY

Gaetano Zambon, a young merchant in chemical products and spices founded the "Zambon medicinal store" in Vicenza together with Silvio Farina.

1906

The company began a business of producing galenic compounds; the bestselling products were Elixir of China, Ferrochina, Rabarbaro and the insecticide ITE.

1920

Alongside the production of drugs the business of synthesising raw materials was commenced.

1933

On 14 May the Zambon factory was razed to the ground by American bombing on Vicenza. For some time the Zambon laboratories were transferred to within the universities of Padua and Milan.

1944

After the destruction of the historical site, a new, more modern and functional Zambon factory was inaugurated. Staff headcount was 550, of which 500 were engaged in production and 50 in research.

1946

The first foreign branch was set up abroad with a production plant in Brazil.

1956

Researchers at Zambon spotted the mucolytic qualities of acetylcisteine, a molecule previously used as a bactericide, for the first time. Fluimucil began life.

1960

Fluimucil Wet Cough was marketed for the first time with base of acetylcisteine, for treating wet cough.

1965

In Almisano di Lonigo a new cutting edge factory was set up for base chemicals.

1970

The Swiss seat moved from Lamone to Cadempino.

1980

The production of drugs was transferred to a new, more efficient factory in Via della Chimica, in the industry park of Vicenza.

1984

A strategic decision was taken; to concentrate on three therapy areas: the respiratory area, women’s care and pain.

1990s

The Z-Cube, an incubator for university start-ups in biotechnologies and Drug Delivery Technologies, is born.

2003

Zambon celebrates the centenary of its foundation, in the 15 Countries in which it is present.

2006

Zoé – Zambon Open Education – Foundation is born, with the goal of developing the culture of health and qualità of life.
Progetto Benvivere, the Zambon working agenda and way of life able to facilitate business choices and encourage relationships between collaborators, is started. Fluimuicil Wet Cough lands on tv, with a new advertising campaign.
Zambon, together with other companies operating in the "Life Science", inaugurates Open Zone, a scientific campus in the outskirts of Milan with the goal of encouraging knowledge exchanges in the fields of research and innovation.

2007

The Zambon Museum is born.

2008

Zambon endowed itself with a new Corporate Image though more modern graphics, but at the same time recalling the history and values of the firm.

2009

A human figures becomes the embellishing texture on the Zambon products’ packaging in order to humanize science, thus creating the preconditions for the "Human Touch" concept, which focuses on persons and a healthy, well-lived life.

2010

On September 16th, 2013, Zambon inaugurated the Health&Qualità Factory, designed by famed architect Michele De Lucchi.
It has been a € 40 million investment to increase quality and productive capacità, expand infrastructures and create new areas devoted to educational activities. The factory has been rethought in a modern key; not just as a place for production, but as a center for exchanges of knowledges and expertise among health operators, such as students, professors and doctors, in order to close the gap between Universities and Research Insititutes.

2013

Oxy.gen is a futuristic structure, shaped like a bubble, born from a Zambon Group idea and realized by Michele De Lucchi to serve as a place of science related to Breathing. With the help of an edutainment-based learning trail dedicated to Primary and Secondary schools, to researchers and to the citizens, the pavilion will host cultural and educational activities, all of them related to human and environmental respiration.

2014

Fluimucil attained 50 years of age: a pathway dedicated to "breathing for science"
